🌞 Good morning campers! Up at 7:15am 64* sunny beautiful day! 🌞 Started the day off with smoothies, egg cups & coffee. Pulled out at 8:15

Headed towards Florence, a lot of corn fields, wheat fields…waves of grain, hay and strawberry fields. By 8:52am on I-95 for next 51 miles.

Buc-ee’s in Florence, SC only 44.4 gallons @ 3.37/gal = $149.80 later! 10:25 crossed the border into NC!

11:15 met our friend Mike at Sophie’s Bistro in Whiteville! We met Mike & Cheryl at our first LJMJ Huddle last November. It was so good to see him & catch up. 12:51 – back on the road again.

Next stop Moores Creek Battlefield! Then stopped at a Publix for water & a few supplies. Drove to todays final destination- Cedar Island Campground on the Outer Banks. Interesting set up! Full hookups but had to go under stairs. We stayed hitched because today is just an overnighter so we can get get in line for Ferry in am. We watched the last ferry of the day unload then walked around campground, down to the beach area when to our surprise to see a herd of cows! Horseshoe tracks on beach and interesting jelly fish. Made dinner then charged everything that needed charging; filled up the water tank because the next few days we were boon docking.

Traveled 321 miles today

Sophie’s is a mix between a French bistro, a NY Deli, a coffee shop and a pastry shop, serving the Whiteville area since 2009. At Sophie’s, you can find Croque Monsieur as well as a Reuben Sandwich and the best chicken salad you’ve ever tasted, great specialty coffee drinks and freshly baked pastries. It is located in the oldest pharmacy in NC and features a wonderful atmosphere and decor.

Moores Creek National Battlefield – The park commemorates the 1776 victory of a thousand patriots over about eight hundred loyalists. The battle dashed the hopes of British provincial governor Josiah Martin for regaining control of North Carolina for the Crown. The national military park was established on June 2, 1926, and was redesignated as a national battlefield on September 8, 1980.

In the early morning hours of February 27, 1776, Loyalist forces charged across a partially dismantled Moores Creek Bridge. Beyond the bridge, nearly 1,000 North Carolina Patriots waited quietly with cannons and muskets poised to fire. This battle marked the last broadsword charge by Scottish Highlanders and the first significant victory for the Patriots in the American Revolution. This also allowed NC to become the first colony to allow its delegates to vote for independence.
