☀We got up at 7am, yes to an alarm again! Raining & 60*⛈🥶 Pulled out at 7:45 and unfortunately Tim slipped and fell in the mud and was now a dirty man!🤦♀️ So we stopped on the pavement where he went back inside and changed clothes. Our friends Joy & Martin called us over to have breakfast with them. Fresh, warm sourdough bagels that Joy made! 🥯 Plain & everything with cream cheese and coffee was a great way to restart the morning. For the next 4 hours it rained!☔ Ah a 7-11… yup we stopped for our diet cokes and split a breakfast sandwich. 🥤 As we continued on our adventure we went through a lot of small towns all with BBQ stands, lots of fields with cattle, horses and goats. Amazed at all the wild flowers along the road and even in the medians! Bit of trivia- Texas is the heart of US beef 🥩 production with 4.3 million beef cows. More than any other state. Oklahoma is 2nd with 2 billion. Then out in the middle of nowhere, in Taylor, Texas we see off in the distance about 12-15 cranes and a structure being built. It’s a Samsung Factory on Samsung Road! A Semiconductor plant being built for chip manufacturing. $17 Billion dollar factory on 1200 acres.
2:10 we arrived at McKinney Falls State Park $6.00 entry Site #62 was a drive thru up on this little hill. Right out our window was our neighbor’s picnic table. Poor layout of sites!🤦♀️ We got all setup, windows open for it was 69* and very windy. We had ground turkey tacos and relaxed for awhile. Took a walk around campground then drove down to the lower & upper falls. Fields of flowers were everywhere. Lots of different kinds of butterflies…I was in heaven. 🦋 We walked around the McKinney Homestead where the stone walls hold the stories of empire slavery, emancipation, farming and family life from 1850-1940. Enslaved people built the homestead for Thomas McKinney, a race horse breeder and one of Stephen Austin’s original colonists. Unfortunately our next stop was the visitor’s center but it was closed, only open on weekends! So I cut a bunch of wildflowers and made an arrangement for our table. After 6 days of boon docking, a nice long shower and a good hair washing never felt so good! Tim crashed early. I worked on the blog for awhile then I watched Mama Mia till midnight! Today we traveled 284.8 miles.
