Saturday – 🌝 Rise & shine at 7am to beautiful sunny day, 57*. After breakfast we had a meeting in the Civic Center to get radios and talk about how the day was going to flow. Tim helped the new arrivals at the water & dump station then directed them so they could be escorted to their site. As the day progressed, 108 RV’s were parked….some with water & electricity, others boon-docked in the asphalt parking lot & the 5 of us boon-docked in the grassy field. During the morning hours I helped Marsha & Bryan {the caterers} get the food and dining room set up along with other volunteers. 2 – 4pm was registration and I was the greeter! As everyone came in they received their welcome bag, lanyards and shirts and given a schedule of the events for the next couple of days and as they exited they met the hosts, Jessie & Corey from FOS & Nathan & Marissa from LJMJ both RV You Tuber’s. Then we all helped in the kitchen with set up for we were all eating together for dinner. Yes, over 300 RVers! 😱 What an amazing BBQ dinner! 🥘 Smoked brisket, chicken & pork with all the fixin”s. 🎈Opening ceremony done by the hosts followed by make your own ice cream cookie sandwiches or sundae’s. 🍨🍪 The evening event was a corn hole tournament till 10pm which was held in the arena. Then as the night cooled everyone could sit outside in the outdoor gathering area with lights and fire pits along with Justin playing his guitar & singing. What a great first day! ❤️

Sunday morning at 7am, sunny & 62*. Oh that alarm!! ⏰ Our day started at the Civic Center at 8am to get dining room for everyone to have breakfast together. Today was catered by a local caterer and we all had scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, pancakes, fruit & hard boiled eggs and drinks. Amazing to see how orderly feeding over 300 people goes with 4 serving lines set up. 10-12 – There were different breakout sessions everyone could go to listen to. At 2pm we all met up in the Civic Center to do a SeRV with Purpose project. This is where RVer’s come together to volunteer for a cause out in the community. 🎒 We packed 400 backpacks for school kids, for local CANHelp for their Back to school fair in Sulphur Springs. This was our 2nd SeRV project we’ve done and what a great feeling to be part of something like this. Giving back is so rewarding for the soul. 💖 Tonight was Potluck night! Wow…the variety of dishes…hot, cold, side dishes, desserts along with a chili cook off if you wanted to enter your chili! This was then followed by a night of Karaoke! 🎤 We enjoyed sitting outside relaxing with a group of friends till midnight!

Monday – Eclipse Day! Up at 7am for breakfast prep at 8am. Today was doughnuts, fruit, coffee and juices. The volunteers started getting the arena ready for today’s event, a Carnival theme! We made lots of 🍿 popcorn, cotton candy 🍬 , hot dogs 🌭 etc. Bounce Houses were erected along with a Ninja Course, corn-hole and more inside the arena. 12:30 pm everyone went outside! 🎥 🔭 What an amazing event to share with over 300 friends in the lawn of the common area. Telescopes, camera’s on tripods, drones and Gopro’s erected on poles! At 1:38 the thin Crescent appeared, around 1:43 the Diamond Ring disappeared and it started getting cooler, solar lights started going on, birds stopped singing, there was no traffic on the road and then complete Totality! The fire balls on the edges was incredible. What an emotional experience to witness. We then got everything ready for dinner and we had a wonderful Taco dinner 🌮 followed by Birthday cakes & ice cream. Followed by closing ceremonies & giveaways. We got a foldable 2 seater couch and a foldable ottoman! Movie night in the arena with fire pits! Jim & Kelly joined us for drinks and called it a night around midnight.

Tuesday – 7:15am 61* only a high of 64* due to storms coming through. At Civic Center for breakfast with everyone then by 10 everyone said their goodbyes and we all had pictures taken with the hosts. Then we attended a volunteer meeting with everyone, cleaned up kitchen and packed everything up. By 2pm the sky opened up. We started cleaning and packing up for our departure for tomorrow. After dinner we hosted a group around the solo fire pit for drinks till about 10:30pm. Good night campers! It’s been an exciting 6 days with all these wonderful RVers! 💕
