🌞 Woke up at 8am to a brisk, beautiful sunny day – 45* outside & 55* inside the AS! 🥶 Our Govee sensor said it got down to 52* inside during the night so…the heater went on! We enjoyed a relaxing morning admiring the water view with our coffee & tea. Tim then cut the foam for our living room cushions and boy what a difference! So much more comfortable. Then we spent a few hours getting ready to boon-dock or the next 6 days.(No amenities for we will be in a field) Filled water tank all the way up, filtered water into pitchers for drinking & charged everything up. 2:20 pm we stopped for 🥤Diet Coke’s & filled up the diesel since this s prior to Eclipse and we don’t want to be stuck in case of madness! 48.466 gallons @ $3.55/gal = $172.49 later.
2:47pm we arrived in Sulfur Springs, TX at the Civic Center where we were greeted by dear friends. We’re here for the Night Light Rally with two of our favorite You Tube couples from Finding Our Someday & Less Junk More Journey who asked us to be volunteers for the event. We setup in the field with them and 2 other RVers! The main event will take place right in front of us in the big field. We walked around the grounds with our friends, Jim & Kelly to get the lay of the land. Only a few people were here already but everyone will be arriving on Saturday! Some had water & electric across the field from us while others were boon-docking in the parking lot. There will be 118 rigs here with over 300 people attending this Rally. This is the biggest one we’ve ever attended! We enjoyed taco’s for dinner 🌮 and having a few friends over throughout the evening. We traveled only 87.8 miles.
Friday, Day 5 – 7:15am 60* outside & 65* inside It’s a bright sunny day!🌞 Made us an egg/avocado wrap with our coffee & tea. Our friends children visited us at 9 am for I had told them last night I had surprises for them every morning! We played Go Fish, then we took them to the Southwest Dairy Museum 🐄 while their parents worked on the event. What a great museum with lots of “Hands on” experiences for the kids. When we got back the the campground they went with some of their friends and we left with Jim & Kelly to check out the town. We found a spot to park, “Mr. Hard to Park” our dually truck and we walked around this adorable town of Sulfur Springs. The town got a grant and revitalized the downtown area. The courthouse was amazing with a welcoming area with walks, flowers, tables & chairs with games etched in them and even glass walled bathrooms you can see out of but can’t see in. A heart felt Veteran’s memorial 🇺🇸 for all branches with an eternal flame. We walked across the street from this main area to “Corner Grub House” where we sat outside and ordered a drink & lunch.
2:00 pm we had a volunteer meeting and broke up into groups to start setting up and finished at 4:45pm. We hung lights in the arena, set up 10 corn hole boards, set up fire pits, chairs & lights outside for a common sitting area in the field, 🎈built balloon arches for entry and stage and lots more. We then met up at 5 pm to go over schedule for the next few days & all had dinner together. Pizza 🍕 & wings and dessert! Yummy! We received our Rally bags/name lanyards and a gift bag from the hosts. What a nice surprise! We received Eclipse jackets, journal & ornament. We all went outside and relaxed for awhile for the next few days will be busy! We actually ran the AC on the batteries for a few minutes to cool the AS for the night! Loving the new solar ability! The excitement starts tomorrow so saying good night! 😴💤
