So enjoyed our morning! 🙅🏻♀️ No alarms,🚨 No agenda, No driving hundreds of miles 👏 We relaxed all morning! 🌞 Coffee & tea + sitting outside = a wonderful morning! We finally started moving & left at 11:50!! We explored the park & then as we were leaving we stopped at the ranger station to check in!
Reed Bingham State Park is a 1,613 acre park in southern Georgia. 🍑 What a great family park! The park surrounds a 375 acre lake and people were out fishing, boating, waterskiing, & kayaking! Pretty overflow dam too. There’s lots of hiking trails all over…3.5 mile long Coastal Plains Nature Trail, miniature golf, swimming area, playgrounds, pavilions, bike trails and 2 big camping loops! Nearly 80 percent of the Coastal Plain’s plant community can be found along the park’s Coastal Plain Nature Trail, making this park’s habitat some of the most diverse in the country. Lots of wildlife here! Lots of gopher tortoises, bald eagles, squirrels, indigo snakes, alligators & buzzards! The park became part of a major conservation area to restore Longleaf Pines in the southeastern US.
We drove into the small down of Adel. It’s 52 miles southeast of Albany with a population of 5,571! Stopped at O’Reillys to get windshield washer fluid, stopped at the post office to mail post cards, then drove around the town. Went into the town of Sparks to stop at a winery BUT Open sign on and website said open but unfortunately locked up. So went back to Adel.
Earlier we had passed a bbq place that was packed so that’s where we’re headed for lunch. Sweet T’s Smokehouse – “Best BBQ in Town” … open Monday-Friday 11am-2pm. Can’t say enough about this place. The owner Theresa has a gold mine! She and her staff are very friendly, fast service and everything was delicious! It’s a small place where everyone knows each other. So we tried the Brunswick Stew, pulled pork, fries, meat platter had ribs, chicken, pulled pork, also tried fried okra and corn nuggets! All spectacular! 😋 Then dessert….a local makes pies for the restaurant and yes I took home a slice of Almond Joy cake. So yummy! Then stopped off at Walmart to pick up supplies & jugs of water. Went back to park and rode over to other side & did a trail. State Parks are known to have lower priced laundry machines and this didn’t disappoint me! Only $1.00/washer & dryers. Only had 1 load so all caught up. Only 30 miles today! Relaxed the rest of the night! That’s a wrap!
Tomorrow we’ll be back in Florida!
